What was the best thing  you have ever gotten
for free?
Picture
A man bought a brand new TV and didn't need his two, so he put the good old one in his yard with a sign "free - still working". It stood there for a month and no one took it.  Then he changed the sign which wrote "$50". It was stolen the next day!  ???

The best thing I've ever got for free was a week holiday to the beautiful island of Bahamas 3 years ago. A good friend of mine who works for an airline company had a great win during an employees' competion and decided to invite ME as a guest winner: I think the gift was a recognition of our long term sisterhood and I must say to this day it was the best holiday I ever had!! <3

The best thing I ever received for free was my dog Mau Mau for my birthday. We got her from the shelter and my parents paid $25 for her and gave them to me. She's a senior dog that has already been very well trained. She's a total family dog so, she's always around to sit on my lap, give me love and make me feel better!
I'm forever grateful for this gift and have to agree that the best things in life are free!

I am a fiber artist, and the best thing I have gotten for free was a spinning wheel. It belonged to my great aunt who had moved to a Senior's Residence, and she couldn't take it with her. Her daughter was cleaning out the garage and was going to throw it away. Another cousin of mine spoke up and said I might be interested in it. Was I ever!

My great aunt is now deceased, so having her wheel makes it all the more special. I now have a family heirloom that will be treasured by me forever, and when I look at it I think of her and have nothing but good memories.

I've read that story before, and it's quite ironic indeed! It's like when someone puts a price on something, it instantly becomes 'wanted' or 'desired'. If I have to think about your question though, I think that the best thing that I have ever gotten for free would have to be... my independence. :)

I say this because from where I'm from, families are very traditional, so children would often have no 'freedom' per se. That's why I'm very thankful that I managed to convince my parents to be a little bit less conventional -- and today, that freedom bore fruit because I am now a very successful entrepreneur. I think free things don't always have to be material things, right? :)
